My wife and I are taking a 12 day trip in the UK and will be staying at two destinations, both of which are holiday cottages. I am looking for a single trip travel insurance policy that will cover us for the following :

If either one of us get ill and are unable to travel ( only for non pre-existing conditions )

If we are unable to go because a close relative who is not coming with us becomes ill

If the places that we will be staying at go bust and we turn up with no where to stay

I have read through so many policys, but dont understand 99% of them. Why cant they put the clause's in simple English.

Travel insurance policies that include cancellation cover should provide cover for cancellation as a result of a new injury or illness that occurs after the policy is purchased. This applies to yourself and your wife or a non-travelling close relative.

However, it is unusual to find a travel insurance policy that includes cover for the travel company or accomodation provider becoming bankrupt. If you purchased the holiday with a credit card you could have some protection from your credit card company.

If you search for a UK policy using the MSM comparision tool you may find a suitable policy.
