Hi All,
Am new to forum and after some advice. I returned home on Sunday from a long weekend away to find my kitchen flooded with sewage which I have found out was caused by a blockage in pipe.
The insurance company sent someone round to unblock the drains but I want a bit of advice before I claim for my contents.
Can the insurers refuse to pay if they say we are to blame for the blockage?
My washing machine, dishwasher and fridge are all on the side of the kitchen were the sewage flowed from the sink onto the floor. All seem to still be working but the thought that they have had sewage all over them turns my stomach. I am worried that as they are working the insurers won’t pay for them.
Obviously we cleaned the kitchen and bleached the floor etc so there isn’t an awful lot of visible damage and we had to throw away plates etc caught in the mess. I am worried as the insurers website said we should keep damaged things as evidence but everything smelt and we are only a 1 bed flat and can’t keep hold of them!
If anyone has any advice or been in a similar situation I would welcome your help before I claim as don’t want to send my premium up if they aren’t going to pay for anything!
Bobbit.
