Thank you for your reply. I pay £30 a month, that's what they set it at and i sumbit readings every now and then online also. I have submitted a new one after seeing the bill. Just after it being in credit before the bill over the quater i was unerved to find myself nearly £100 in debit. that's a lot of money to me ha-ha. But thanks for re-assuring me.

    EllieandCraig:

Theyre saying weve used over 4000kwh in a qtr?

I see you previously had trouble understanding your bills so I'll try to be helpful.

Unless your meter is reading wrongly, which is extremely unlikely, the current meter reading is the current meter reading. 4000kWhrs of gas in the winter quarter is not exceptional. Whether it's actually 4000 (or 3500 or 4500) depends on whether there were actual readings or not at the start and end of the quarter.

If you are interested in understanding your consumption take regular readings. Daily at first, then weekly and finally monthly when you begin to understand your consumption patterns. Whenever you get a bill, if it is based on an estimate, you are entitled to provide a customer read and have the bill re-issued. Up to you but I would always recommend that.

It's early days in your BG supply for a consumption pattern to have emerged. Probably the £3 reduction was a result of the BG price reductions, a debit of £93 is not massive following the winter quarter except you haven't said what your monthly gas DD is. It might not actually be a £93 debit if the bill was issued a few days before the monthly DD collection.

The next quarter's bill will be a better guide. I wouldn't worry based on what you have said.

Direct debit's gone down bills gone up?

    Hi guys,

BG last month reduced my gas monthly DD by £3 this was not long after I had submitted meter readings so I thought that they had done this accordingly. However I have just checked my acount and found that my bill for the quarter was £181 and I was in debit by £93. They also claimed that this was done on the 7th with an estimated reading. When someone had come round the day before to take a reading. So im a bit confused. Why did they reduce it before such a large bill? And why say estimated when someone had been round. We live in a two bed terrace, we both work different shifts so have the heating on for 2hours a day max and at least 3 out of 7days have no heating on at all. Theyre saying weve used over 4000kwh in a qtr? Any help or insight is greatly appreciated!
