Water Rates South East (Brighton BN1 3BL) need your advise.

    Hi,

Thanks for this great fourm which helped me a lot in savings in my car insurance and gas bills. I wish to know if there is any reduced rate for water bill (I am a disabled person on benifit ) and I am currently with Southern water which charges me £560 for my two bedroom flat (no balcony or Garden so it's only for bathing, washing and nothing else) so that's over £50 a month. thanks again for your help.

There are no reduction schemes on water rates for disabled people or benefit recipients offered by any of the water companies in the UK that I am aware of, but there are schemes set up by some authoritiess that do help out with exessive bills ie. alternative or easier methods of repayment ... best to check with your local water authority as each area is different.

If you're on a unmetered water supply, it may be worth considering installing a water meter depending on your usage, if you're a low volume user and you anticipate there may be any savings to be made.

Thank you for repling back. I jess yes I have to transfer to a water meter but I am just worried as if I wanted it removed in the future southern water will not allow that.I just wish there were other companies like EDF and others with different tariffes and we have the right to chose . I have been before to a web site of a company (I belive they serve Hasting) who have a special teriff for people on low income or on benifet but I lost it and couldn't find it in my bookmarks.

Counting all the bills you get now it is very difficult to live in the UK this days (Gas bill+ water+transport+phone bill (forget about the net it's a leasure thing )+ tax+ cloth+food+TV licence+++ and each one goes with hundreds of cash god help us.

thanks again & regards to all of you

Seems to me that you have a spare bedroom, that you could rent out for extra income.
