conmankiller: this is not a 1000, it is definately "i" and three zeros - i000

ATM: I was supervised when I was stopped. After a few months of that I received papers from the court regarding this event and it stated that I will be charged for IN10 and LC20, and I can either go to court and plead guilty or do it in a letter. I chose the second option. After some time I got another post from court which said that I have been convicted for the IN10, it didn't mention the LC20 at all. I will try to find the papers now and read them carefully, but I am certain there was only one conviction.

    Hi Jacol,

that LC20 sounds a bit strange if you were not convicted of it, is it anything to do with driving unsupervised?

The 1000 could possibly be the discretionary £ fine that the offence carries and is mentioned in this article.? ..otherwise not sure.

Re: Points, conviction and provisional licence

I know what LC20 means and I know there are 3 to 6 points for it. But as I said I've got 0 (zero) points for it on my licence, also there is no fine for it. I didn't even had it on my provisional licence, and have no idea why it's there now. I wonder what that I000 means and I can't find any information about it. When the papers from court came to me it didn't say I have been convicted for the LC20 as well, it stated only the IN10.

Re: Points, conviction and provisional licence

LC20 = Driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence - 3 TO 6 POINTS - So you'll have to declare to Insurers esp as IN 10 means driving without insurance??

It'll stay on your licence for 4 years.

No idea what the 1000 means - sorry!

Re: Points, conviction and provisional licence

    Hi, it's me again.

I just received the full licence through the post and I'm sad. On my provisional I had only IN10 plus 6 points and 100 pounds fine. Now when I got the full licence there is also LC20, but without any points or fine, in "other" section there is I000 but I have no idea what that means. Do I still have to declare that LC20 to the insurer while there are no points and fine? I think I do but want to make sure.

    Thanks

    jacol

Congrats on passing your test and glad to hear the licence was not revoked straight away. When you do get a motor just keep the examiners advice in your mind and drive safely and watch your speed too. A gatso camera can catch you for doing 33 mph in a 30 zone.

Re: Points, conviction and provisional licence

    Thanks ATM for the reply.

I just passed the test yesterday and I asked the examiner afterwards what with those points. He said they will be transferred on the full licence, but it won't be revoked yet. If I get even one point more then I'll lose it ;] But considering prices of the insurance, my points will probably expire before I get my own car he he.

Just wanted to share that information with you, maybe it will be useful for someone in the future.

Re: Points, conviction and provisional licence

It's a long time since I was a learner driver and a lot has changed, like the 6 points and you're out rule. I can answer some of your points here so that should help a bit,

Assuming that you do lose your licence on passing your test (get that clarified by a police officer), you would still have your driving convictions on your licence but the points would most probably disappear. When getting insurance, all insurers ask for details of motoring convictions in at least the last 5 years although they don'y normally load after premiums after 3 years. One exception to this is where a DR conviction is collected and this can affect premiums for anything up to 10 years.

If you do not get to ask a Police Officer then maybe a call to DVLA at Swansea may give you any further info to the first bit of your question.

You're not doing too bad jacol. I had 11 minor endorsements on my licence as a learner driver due to my dodgy motorbike and not wearing a crash helmet!

    Points, conviction and provisional licence

    Hi,

I think someone here could help me a bit. I'm on provisional licence at this moment, but already have 6 points of it. I am having the test next week and let's say I pass it, will I lose the licence straight away because of these points? I assume I will but want to be 100% sure. Next thing is also pretty dumb question and I think I know the answer, but again, I want to be certain ;) When I lose the licence for points I have to apply for a new provisional and then pass the tests again, haven't I? But it doesn't mean that conviction I have isn't going to be there right? When I will be buying the insurance I will still have to select that I've been convicted and received those points? I've been asking that questions my instructor but he doesn't know...

Thanks to everyone for looking :)
