    leaving virgin for SKY...need advice

I have just signed up for the sky broadband, tv, calls package but on leaving virgin they mentioned about the fiberoptic lines vs phone line and how that will affect my internet connects.

I have a friend that is always complaining about their BT line, but now I think about it - they also have SKY!

am I mad to do this?
I have had no trouble with Virgin and the packages are the same price - I just want to try the SKY+ faclility and get some better channels, but if it eve MAY affect my internet I won't move.

any advice on whether the phone line/BT line option will be an issue- would be great.

    thanks

I have just signed up to the full Sky package,i.e. TV Sky+ Talk unlimited and base broadband.I have not had any problems and the change over and service is good. Plus the phone package is cheaper than BT. The only down side is that i only get 2meg on the broadband on the phone copper wire delivery system, but the distance from my exchange only allows me up to a max of 3meg no matter what Sky broadband package i have.

You are right the Virgin Media cable system is faster and better but you have to pay for it. So basically i am happy with what i am getting from Sky. I thing Virgin were just trying to scare you into not cancelling their contract. Go ahead and move as my Sky broadband has never gone down yet.

Have you considered phoning to see if you can get better package? V+ service is great on Virgin, also have Tv choice on demand, as well as catch up tv. Look into it first

i changed from Virgin to sky for broadband as I found their broadband really expensive. Yes it was faster, but only in off peak times. Sky is cheaper and much more efficient, I think.
