I assume your husband has business cover, i would suggest that you try them for travel insurance and ask for the policy to be extended to include manual work. I know the NFU Mutual used to to this for existing clients.

My husband is travelling to Crete with a colleague for 4 weeks, overland. When in Crete they will be doing some diy work on our holiday home there. Is there a travel insurance which will cover them for any injury sustained whilst working in Crete on the house? They are both self employed, my husband is a carpenter with his own business and cannot afford to be injured and uninsured.
