    Re: Am I being overcharged?

Don't pay a thing, ask him to show you the gas bills for your flat and the shop, and to show you the meter (or meters if they are indeed seperate) and take a reading. You should have two separate meters if the supply is split between shop and flat. If he refuses tell him you won't pay until he does, then see what happens. Check you contract for any small print but I reckon he doesn't have a leg to stand on. If you're really worried get some legal advice.

£600 sounds a bit high, unless you have the heating on all night and day and do a lot of baking. I live in a two bedroom flat and our gas bill is about £35 a month, and i work from home so sometimes the heating is on in the day.

    Am I being overcharged?

I currently rent a 3 bedroom flat above a shop, and my landlord is also the owner of the shop. He has given me a British Gas bill for a 6 month period totalling over £600, and he claims this does not include any gas that is used by the shop.

This seems way too high to me!

I want to know what the average monthly gas bill should be for a standard 3 bedroom flat, occupied by 3 people who are at work all day. Can anyone help?

    Thanks.
