How did it "come up"? If it is there in error, you can ask the creditor and/or the reference agency to correct things. If it is not an error and you pay it, it will probably show as a default that has now been settled.

Most credit records only go back 6 years.

Good evening all. Looking some advice please. I have a default on my credit file for £390.00 this is the only bad thing on my file, the problem is i am trying to buy a new house and this default has come up on my credit file and is stopping me from getting a good mortgage rate if i clear this default will it be taken of my file? how long does it take to come off? and how do i go about getting it taken of? many thanks for any advice.
