thanks for your reply any info would be appreciated and no my fine was not for arson it was for a minor offence and i had comletely forgoten all about it. I was fined in march 2004 the fire happened feb 2007 and NU are stating that this is not a spent conviction and should have been disclosed

They can't do this, and it certainly wasn't anything to do with the loss (unless your fine was for Arson!).

Do NOT get no win no fee because this is a simple case and they can't order you to pay this. Quote the FSA and their rule on repudiation of claims. If you need more ammo let me know and I will come back on tomorrow to advise. Just rushing out the door.

Don't panic. If you are being candid on here and this is the only reason, you will be fine ! You don't even need legal aid. They will take that letter back ;)

Your local Citizens Advice Bureau can be a good starting point in such situations.

    buildings and contents insurance

I recently had a fire at my home which was gutted the insurance paid out for a rebuild and my contents they have since cancelled the policy from inception and have sent me a solicitors letter requesting payment of £241,000 within the nest 21 days. This was due to a non disclosure of an offence where i recieved a fine on 100 pounds and i had comletely forgotten about it. I am trying to find some legal advise either on legal aid or no win no fee can you help
