pet insurance company not taking the money out

hi, don,t know if any one can give me some advice, i,ve had pet insurance with the same company for 10 years for my dalmatian , but this year its all got wrong !! Heres what happened i changed bank accounts in october , changed all the direct debits including the pet insurance , everything else went well apart from the pet insurance , which i didn,t reliase untill i put my claim in for Zak been ill it was for £270 , then i found out i hadn,t paid the insurance since october , this was resulting from the bank account changing , the bank said the pet insurance direct debit had been set up by them and it was the insurance companies fault for not taking it out , the insurance company said they i sent them a letter to say cancel the direct debit but i did not sent this to them , why would i cancel this when my dog was still well . Since this has all happened my dog got very ill and i said no to more treatment and had him put to sleep . so what do people think do i have case to complain or not !!!

I do feel for you. Being an avid dog lover myself, I can imagine how you feel. I don't know what you can do now, except to demand to see this letter that you are supposed to have sent them and try to reclaim the £270 you have paid out for vet bills. Certainly, no court will consider the loss of an animal to be worth compensation, though with this I totally disagree. Start with the letter; either they have it or they don't. I am sure they will try to blind you with comments like, you should have noticed before. But I've done this myself very often, continued paying for cable tv for six months after I had cancelled it and didn't realise until they wrote telling me they were changing the channels.
