Re: bad service from currys and hoover
Hi Backfoot and Catastrophica,
Thank you so much for all your wonderful advice, I bought in a solicitor on this case, and Currys got out of it by saying that after this useless engineer, fixed it after flooding my kitchen, as far as they were concerned it was up and running. After it broke down again they tried to charge over 80.00, as a call out fee, with this same engineer doing absolutely nothing, fancying sending him round my house again, how stupid is this. I refused to pay the money, that they only decided to waiver, because I had gone into Currys and it was there choice to send him in, I told them not to bother sending an engineer round my house, they should replace the machine, they refused. I paid for an independent engineer to come round, he said there diagnosis of what was wrong with the machine was totally inaccurate. They did not believe him, so they decided to send another engineer round to look at the washing machine and the cooker, I said no. Because I do not trust them in there judgment, I have been lied to, they could break the machine further, and there engineer is incompetent, and I certainly dont want my kitchen flooded again. I have lost complete faith in this company and I hate there dishonesty. If anyone can come up with a solution, to this problem or has been in a similiar situation please let me know. The solicitor tried really hard to sort this out but these rogues, have got the law sewn up. Thank you again to the good advice I have been given on this thread, no matter what happens I will continue to fight this case, hope. They haven,t even got the decency to reply to this thread and right this wrong. They are lucky to have any customers shop with them, I will never step foot in one of there shops ever again. And over the years I have spent hundreds of pounds in there shops, I am utterley disgusted with them.

Re: bad service from currys and hoover
I have successfully use dthe small claims court too - only the travel company I sued went bust by the time the judgement arrived.
I would agree - pursue them. You can do it online, too - I did - and it's fabulously easy to use.

Re: bad service from currys and hoover
I have backtracked on Christy's other thread to remind myself of the circumstances of this case.It really is a very sorry state of affairs by Curry's. Basically, there was a problem and after a service engineer attended a significant leak occurred. On a second visit, the same engineer came up with some guff about washing tablets but I don't think he resolved the problem.I am not clear whether the machine is working now?
A warranty was in place with Hoover the manufacturer and to my mind has to be honoured until the problem is resolved. It is now out of date but the problem occurred within the warranty period.
If they don't honour it,I would sue for breach of warranty in the small claims court and also that the machine was not fit for purpose.
I think they will cave in well before trial. I would personally sue for the full cost of the machine and claim damages for costs, time and inconvenience to the value of say £100. Another contributor, Landshark wrote some excellent advice along similar lines with ideas about charging damages which might also be added. I personally would keep it simple.Keep any correspondence to date and be prepared to show this to the court.
I sense Christy is pleading for help. I can only encourage you to use the small claims court. It is quite easy and I am sure you would win,if the facts are as detailed here.I won a similar case around 18 months ago with the same company after issuing court proceedings when they made a full out of court setlement. My experience with this company is that they take no notice of letters until you actually take legal action.
Good luck.

Re: bad service from currys and hoover
Yes, I definitely agree that legal action / complaints shoud target the trading company; I just thought Christy was upset that a British company could be 'doing down' an equally British customer.
To my mind, it doesn't matter. Whatever or whoever they are, we have a right to expect proper treatment in line with the law, and all effective regulations. Poor customer service really irritates me!!

Re: bad service from currys and hoover
As far as I know,Curry's are part of the DSG Group which was rebranded from Dixons around 2 years ago. They are quoted as a FTSE 100 company and I don't think they have any parent company above them. They do have interests themsleves in other countries.I would say with any legal action or complaint you are better targetting the actual trading company you dealt with.
Curry's will have their own Managerial structure and should be largely responible for their own policies and procedures.

Re: bad service from currys and hoover
That information might not be readily available Christy. Many British companies get bought out by bigger US firms and we don't realise. Take the Body Shop, for instance, now owned by L'Oreal.
If I were you, I would contact them and ask them who they are and from whence they get their policy.
TBH, though, I don't think that it matters who they are; all companies that operate in this country should do so in line with all levels of current legislation, and with due respect for the customer and due diligence.
Let us know what you find out, though.

Re: bad service from currys and hoover
Hi Jason,
Thank you so much for your reply, and the information you have e-mailed, I certainly dont intend to give up, have you any idea if this is a British company, or American, please if it is British they should be ashamed of themselves the way they treat there customers.

Re: bad service from currys and hoover
Hi Christy
Thanks for your email.
I'm sorry I've not had time to respond to your posts sooner. I understand your position and I sympathise with your case but I can't step in and contact DSG on your behalf.
What I suggest is that you contact DSG at these details - customer.services AT dsgiplc.com or call 0870 154 5570 and explain your case and that Curry's didn't listen to you.
I would state that you will continue to highlight your problem to executives of DSG until someone accepts responsibility and resolves your case.
Let me know how you get on?
Cheers
Jason
