Tiscali, BT Landline and Sky TV

    Hi,

I am currently paying Tiscali to provide me with broadband (I think it's about £17/month) but on top of that I am also paying BT to provide me with a land line - I don't need a land line to make calls on (i.e I only have it so i can use the Internet) - does anyone know if I need a BT landline or if Tiscali can offer me a package which will allow me to carry on using Broadband (not fussed about having a land line).....

Basically I want to pay as little as possible to allow me to use Broadband

I seem to remember Sky saying they would only install Sky + if I had a BT landline - now that Sky + has been installed would I have any problems getting rid of my BT land line (if that is at all possible?)

Thanks in advance for any advice...

Unfortunately you have to have a BT Line in order to receive Tiscali. A friend of mine has just gone through this sinario. They have the exact same set up as you. They spent hours on the phone being passed around trying to get answers, and in the end it was found to be correct.

Re: Tiscali, BT Landline and Sky TV

I have a Tiscali package which includes BT rental and free evening/weekend calls. My total monthly bill is around £23 - BUT they insist I have a set-top box which infuriates me as it is always 'freezing' and my TV already has digital. It costs 8p a minute to call their helpline - first (and only time) I did, it cost me £8 !!! BT keep begging me to return and I'm considering it - if only to get rid of the box and have cheaper helpline.

Re: Tiscali, BT Landline and Sky TV

I have the Tiscali Broadband and Talk package it is cheaper than BT.

I have had a serious problem I have been trying to report for 4 days both by phone and their online help e mail,as they directed me, they also have said they will call back [but never have]. I have also been transfered to different departments and usually end up back where I started with no success.

On all enquires or reports it appears that it is only luck if you get someone to help on your problems.

As I am only a 2 months into the agreement I am stuck with this situation but will be looking at alternatives asp.

Cost of service great. Customer service terrible.

If your telephone exchange has been unbundled, Tiscali can provide BB with FREE line rental all for £14.99 per month. Check it out.
