    Charges for downloads

Hi, I have been with madasafish for 5 months and have their max premier broadband service with talk. I have been paying approximately £55 per month for this. However this month I have had emails from them every day saying I am going over the allowed 50GB useage and as they charge an extra £2 per GB my latest invoice is for £130 and states have used over 100GB this month. They have checked security and changed my password and assure me no-one can tap into my broadband. It seems an excessive amount to be using, the only difference in the last month as far as I know is that I brought my son a Mac and he spends quite a bit of time streaming and downloading films programmes from his Pc but has always done this and never used this amount before. I still have 6 months contract left with madasafish so would like some advice. Also could you please recommend a broadband provider that actually provides total unlimited downloads and/or uploads. Any info or advice would be appreciated as i cannot pay this bill and have cancelled my direct debit.

    Many Thanks

    Ali

Ladyred: in the last month ... I brought my son a Mac and he spends quite a bit of time streaming and downloading films programmes from his Pc but has always done this

... but not on the Mac. A DVD quality film is about 4GB. It is not complicated to check when and how much data is being transfered. If the ISP doesn't provide this information, you can check it on the computer, perhaps by downloading some software. Your son will have some information as well.

Some Virgin services offer unlimited downloads but they do slow down the connection rate of the top 5% of users during peak times.
