Well, maybe. But I think perhaps fortune favours the assertive and possibly the well-informed!!!

Too right, Backfoot!! I could really tell some tales!!

Although, to be truthful, I have to point out that the L&G thing was as aresult of an audit rather than me persisting; I had, in fact, given up on that one when it came good anyway. When the second audit also paid out I was gobsmacked!

TBH, I just did it all myself. I just kept writing, saying that we just weren't happy and wanted further investigations.

In the end we had a total of almost six thousand pounds in compensation.

Yes if you think you have been fiddled and you are convinced of your case,I have found perseverance invariably wins.Try to choose the least the cost option for making complaints.Avoid solicitors unless it is really critical and utilise the many trade bodies, associations,Regulatory Authorities and Company Executives to plead your case.

    Re: endowments

    Yeah, I would guess so.

Mind you, I complained about our poor advice from an IFA, but I complained to Legal and General. I complained when the policy was fairly new, and again and again over the years. Then we closed it down and complained again, and again. Still nothing. But a friend in a similar situation advised us to try again, and we did. Again we were refused, but, when an audit of complaints was done by L&G, we received a settlement. And then, amazingly, a second settlement in respect of two subsidiaries policies we'd been advised to take out to complement the original one.

So, I think persistence is the key.

    endowments

i along with another friend complained about identical bad endowment advice from an ifa, we were duped into a step up endowment that papered over the cracks of a poor scottish amicable product, we both complained but got nowhere, it seems its harder to complain against an ifa than a bank
