All mobile companies can increase or decrease their acceptance rates depending on how business is going. If they need more monthly contract connections they will relax their criteria and possibly take more risks on the business they sign up. On the other hand if business is booming they can be selective on what criteria they set out. I guess in today’s market they probably want as much business as possible and therefore have lowered their normal criteria.

I recently applied for an iPhone on the 02 website and, to my surprise, have had the order confirmed and received an e-mail with my parcel track number and new mobile phone number.

They use Equifax and I've been told that 02 are quite hot and strict on the credit check. I DO have an Orange phone and always pay on time and know that it's recorded on Experian (not sure if it's on Equifax as well).

Does this mean my credit file is better nowadays? I applied for a contract on 02 about 5 months ago and got declined. Why all of a sudden are they accepting me now? Are they getting more relaxed due to the credit crunch letting anyone pass in the hope to get at least some money from people?!
