I spoke to this person only a few moments ago and I am pleased to be able to tell you that not only has Pipex been forced to pay them, the payment is coming via the courts - Bailiffs had to be sent to get it but there is a certain amount of celebrating going on in the home counties tonight!

Have you thought of issuing a winding up petition (not sure if that is the correct term) against Pipex. Normally the threat of having their company closed because they are in default of a judgement gets their attention.

Yep - BT. Not the cheapest, but they own the cable to virtually every home in the UK and if you want an "end to end" solution - this is one of the only companies that can provide this.

You will also be pleased to note that I am very much in the market to change my broadband supplier. However, Pipex will not be on my list of possible candidates as your experience and that of many others would show it to be a foolish choice. Having said that, I get the impression that most of the competitors to the expensive BT are not doing themselves any favours either.

For over six years, we used Pipex until we realised that we were paying a lot of money and receiving very poor service.

In mid-2006, using the Terms and Conditions as set out by Pipex on their web site, the contract was terminated by us in writing and by e-mail. This gave the correct notice, correct period and correct format. Pipex ignored this.

In August, Pipex illegally withdrew money from the account. We sent a demand to Pipex together with our standard terms and conditions of business and we invoiced them for the time it took to notify the bank, send letters and retrieve our money.

Pipex ignored the invoice and the letters and continued to withdraw money.

We instructed solicitors to write to (a) pay our invoice and (b) terminate all business dealings in accordance with our letters.

Pipex ignored all letters.

In December, a summons was taken out against Pipex Internet for the outstanding invoice (which had risen over the months that they continued to illegally withdraw money).

Pipex ignored the summons.

In January a Judgement by Default was made against Pipex for failing to respond in the due time to the summons and payment was due immediately.

Pipex ignored the Judgement.

A Warrant of Execution has now been made and issued against Pipex to retrieve the money for the outstanding invoice.

CONCLUSION.

Pipex appears to believe that it is above the law. Pipex also appears to have little or no ability to deal with customers with anything approaching civility.

If you are seriously considering taking out a contract with this company, I would strongly urge you to reconsider based upon these experiences and those of the hundreds of people on these forums with similar experience. These are not "petty minded whingers" as one less than erudite poster observed. These are CUSTOMERS who have been let down badly by a company in serious need of a course in customer and service management. Frequently, forums are the only place where these people have a voice. Thanks to MS for this.

And if (perish the thought) that Pipex staff actually read this - you had months to respond and work with us to fix this amicably. You CHOSE to ignore personal, legal and now court letters. You only have yourselves to blame for the situation which I hope will focus your minds on the real issues at hand. People want service at a good price from a company that respects them and their needs - you do neither.
