    "First Call" breakdown cover

I took out a "Platinum" "STANDARD" motor breakdown policy with First Call on the basis that there was zero excess for any call outs (see policy details on MSM.COM) - Yet when I checked First Calls website, it appears to tell me that a £40 excess is required for any call outs within 1/2 mile of my home
Can someone please confirm or deny this ?
This is confusing - according to MSM.COM - There are at least 2 First Call options - the cheapest (£32) pa does have an excess - but mine (£42.50) does not

    Re: "First Call" breakdown cover

That's exactly why I use Autoaid http://www.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk/index.htm it's £36 / annum, you pay for the cost of the breakdown yourself by cash or card, get a receipt... then claim it back within Ten days (it works as well). It covers callout at home up to £65 with unlimited help away from home, also cover for your legal spouse is free....so in effect I cover 2 seperate cars for the bargain price of £36. !

Not trying to sell it, but it knocks spots off most other conventional breakdown cover schemes.

I eventually received an email from First Call - I was right in my assumption that my £42.50 pays for the top of the range policy with no excess - the cheaper £32 one has a £40 excess for home calls
