Yes you can all claim back bank charges for the last 5 years in Scotland and 6 years in England and Wales. I have recently put in a claim for my wife which totals over £3000 and we will get this money back, as will you.

I think you will find that this is untrue. I have just claimed back banking charges for the past 3 years. My charges were imposed for going over my agreed over draft limit.

6 years is usually standard for financial records. I am not sure what you mean by claim for. Is there a way of getting your bank charges back? I have paid over a thousand (probably) over the last 6 years. Most of it is my fault, can i claim?

Not sure what you mean by claim back? The OFT are presently investigating the subject of charges - they started looking at credit card charges but have made it clear that bank account overdraft charges will be subjected to scrutiny also. If you are subjected to a charge it is well worth requesting that your bank waive the fee - they will often be flexible. As ever the key thing to avoid with a bank account is an unauthorised overdraft for which the charges can be pretty punitive. Does anybody know how many years back you can claim for? Is there a limit - say 5 years?
