    Re: MoneySupermarket vs Energy Helpline

    Scott,

I wondered if it was how many units you each profile during the summer months. This might have an effect on how many units each model attributes to 1st and 2nd tier Units. Then as you say there is the complication of the discount on 2nd tier electrcity units. There must be, however, quite a difference in assumptions to throw up such a significant difference. It's more than 5% and makes the difference between choice of supplier.

The tariff structure on Click Energy 6 is, as you say, overly complicated. If you lot are struggling with it,how is Joe Public expected to understand and check billing when it comes? Once again, BG do not do themselves any favours.I have to say,our 'Regulatory friends' should get a grip of this sort of thing before new tariffs are accepted.

Furthermore, there should be an automatic switch of Click Energy 5 customers to Click Energy 6,where it is cheaper and undoubtedly it is.However,BG just let you sit on an old tariff till you push for a change.

    Immoral !!

If we stay with BG, will they backdate the Click 6 prices to their tariff change date ?

Thanks for looking into this, but as illustrated, we can't have accredited organisations coming up with such diverse results.

    backfoot,

I'll be honest with you...we don't know why there is a discrepancy.

I can however confirm that I have carried out an audit of other comparison sites and unfortunately it would appear that for the CE6 product using your specific search criteria, there is a discrepancy.

I have asked British Gas to shine some light on this to see what the correct figure should be. As soon as I have this I'll let you know.

There has been an ongoing issue with this specific tariff range due to the introduction of a complex discount structure which was completely new to the market. As a result, MS.com, and I'm sure other comparison sites, had to make alterations to their energy calculator to support this change.

I would assume this issue is a result of that discount structure and so I will do all I can to get to the bottom of it ASAP.

Once again, thank you for highlighting and bringing this issue to our attention.

    MoneySupermarket vs Energy Helpline

    Scott,

Doing a comparison for my father in law.

Currently Midlands Region Dual Fuel with BG on Click Energy 5.

    Gas 12015 kwh.(annual)

    Electricity 2346 kwh.(annual)

Both MS and Energy Helpline show current cost is £767.

Moving to Click Energy 6 :

    MS £670 EH £711.

Who is right? Where lies the difference?

    Thanks.
