    mr-tom:

Consider losing the security software. There are free alternatives which are very good.

I appreciate it's not what you paid for and of course you have a valid complaint. Just a question of how long you want to spend pursiing it vs the likely pay off.

    Viable alternatives:

    Antivirus - consider AVG Free

Firewall - consider the built in Windows Firewall (if your router has a hardware firewall then the windows one is fine) otherwise try Zone Alarm Free

Spyware protection - get Spybot Search and Destroy (Always free) and run it occasionally, likewise AdAware Free version is good and you can even have both for added protection although only one will run at a time.

Sorry if this isn't exactly what you were looking for.

If you do decide to pursue the claim then stick it in writing (or email if you're lucky enough to get online!) to the most senior person you can find. After they mess you about some more, sned the whole thing on to OFCOM, the regulator.

    mr tom.

Thank you so much for your message, it is very much appreciated mr tom.

Problems with the BT Yahoo Security provided with Option 2

I have recently joined BT Broadband - Option 2.

I paid an additional £65 to have it all set up, thinking that would be the best thing to do.

I encountered problems on the very first day, and have done ever since.

The security software keeps failing on me, and prompts me to re-install the software (it says the licence isn't right, or something). I have phoned the technical helpline on 0800 111456 (or something like that), and then they take control of screen.

The same thing is happening each time. They re-install it, it is fine, but then after logging off and on again a few times, I get the same problem.

They have told me that I cannot cancel as my 'cooling off' period is over. However, I'm not getting the service I joined for. I only went with Option 2 because it was advertised as coming with advanced security.

Tomorrow, it'll be a week since the BT engineer came, and I've spent more time on the phone than online.!!

Can anyone suggest anything? I'd appreciate any assistance.
