BT line and Broadband...do I have to?

    hi,

I just moved to Oxford from the US and after a miserable, month-long attempt to get Virgin (just ask if you want the full story) they have finally told me that I cannot receive their services. Apparently they could install it for my neighbor living above me but it is just too difficult to run the cable down the side of my building and to my apartment on the back side.

So, I am looking at other options. From what I can tell, I need a BT line to get any other reasonable service. My flat was renovated right before I moved in and it appears there is no line whatsoever. I have accepted that I will probably have to get a new BT line and pay 125 for it. That said, I am looking for recommendations for what service I should get and through whom. I saw a previous post about madasafish, but as far as I could follow I still need to go through with the BT install first. Any help would be much appreciated. I expect I will be buying a high-end package with little or no download limits and wish to get something fairly fast.

    Cheers!

    Jake

    Hi Jake,

One thing to consider is do you need a BT line for a phone? If not you could potentially go for mobile broadband. Most of the packages I have seen are priced at around £15 per month for 3 gigs. The deciding factor though would be if you are in a good reception area.
