I'm a solicitor in training and I vouch for the statement that a solicitor is only as good as the information provided to him. So if you got this appointment I would hope that you gave all the information that you possibly could. But to me it sounds like you were signed off work indefinitely, your boss said you could leave your car on their car park, it would be safer than taking it back to your home with you where your son MIGHT drive it at night. How does he know what your son might do? And why on earth would you leave the car in a place you'd never get to go back to work for in the first place? To me it does not sound like you had/have a very good case, as fraudulent as it all might seem, you chose to leave your car in someone else's care based on their word, and no payment was made for this, neithr was a contract written up and signed. So you've got nothing to fight with I'm afraid!

If you want free legal advice your local Citizen's Advice Bureaux should be able to secure you a half hour appointment with a solicitor. He should be able to give you an idea of the strength of your case. I hope this does not sound patronising but, as a rule, a solicitor is only as good as the information given to him by his client so it is best to have all relevant papers with you and to have a simple summary for him or, if you like, "bullet points". All the best. Fedora

my car was stolen from acccident repair centre whilst awaiting work.

Can anyone help me, I had worked for the employer since 1994, on 27.1.2004 one of the drivers had driven my car to back car park which is pitch black, i got in car it just jumped forward hitting a concrete pole. Damage was n/s/f headlamp and bumper, i was taken ill and my bos told me as work was due to take place leave car on site as would be more secure, than taking it home incase my son got the urge to go for a midnight spin in it, the car was a ford scorpio 24valve 2.9 estate, full service history etc. i had by this time been signed off by doctor indeffienitly, sept last year i called work a new lady answered phone, i asked to speak to one of the bosses she came back on line said mark was out doing mobile estimate and john was busy, any couple hours later i rang again because my daughters boyfriend is a mechanic and said he would do work for free, so the idea was to speak to one of the bosses and arrange for them to drop car off at my house around the corner of course i would have paid, anyway she said they was busy so, not to call back as my car had been stolen !!!! in march.

I called the police who spoke to john he then said car was stolen late july, so why did they not call the police, insurance compnay or myself when this alledgedly accurred ?

I have worked in the motor trade since i was 17 until now 46, the car was undrivable as they had dismatled it and taken all the petrol out of my car to put in there courtesy cars, so much for a good service they never repaired car had it pushed to back car park, and the only way that car went off site was by a low loader, the insurance company said they could not do anything about it as they had struck my employers garage off there scheme, they sent me a chque for 800.00 pounds putting it down as car was a w/o they said they had no other option.

I am discussded they have rung my car and got away with it,
No.1 if clients car is stolen ie. me even though i worked for them, they ring the client.
    No.2 They call the police.
No.3 They call the car Insurance company,

None of the above was done, Is there someone out there that can help me legally because this is a big cas of fraud.

    Regards

    Jacq.
