Have to add that we were never asked by the first mechanic if he could pass the job over to the garage its not a garage we would have choosen to use normally , the first we knew about the oil treatment was when it was brought back to us by the first Mechanic .

I would say that Trading Standards should be informed - there are probably other financial irregularities with the garage

Anyway - what sort of garage uses OIL TREATMENT for anything nowadays - this would fix ring problems for a few miles at best - you need to ask what they were doing sticking what is effectively THICK OIL in your engine

    Car breakdown bill

Hi everyone my wifes car broke down 2 weeks ago it was burning oil and there was a lot of smoke coming out of it , we took it to our local mecanhic he works from home he had the car for a day and a half brought it back said a new coil pack had been fitted and an oil treament to stop the smoke he informed us that he had used a local garage to diganose the prob , we paid him £191 .

12 days later the same problem arose the Mechanic was away on holiday so we took it to the garage where the problem was diagnosed , they said they had only put the oil treament in and that was a quick fix they said a newer engine was the best way and we agreed i asked about the bill we got for £191 and they said see the Mechanic when he gets back , we did just that and he went nuts he said the garage had done all the work and showed us a bill from the Garage for £157 , he then went to the garage and had words , the garage phoned me and said i was out of order ? .

To date we have not been offerd a penny back im thinking off going to trading Standards would i be in my rights ? i have the recipt from the first mechanic and his bill doesnt tally with the garage bill in fact hes added £40 to it .
