The above post is very good advice. Remember also that any warranty does not affect your rights and is offered on top of them - basicaly, goods have to be fit for purpose - so just because warranties have expired for goods does not automaticaly mean you have no rights. Obviously things do not last forever, but it is what is reasonable which comes into play. So this is why you often find companies willing to assist even after a warranty has expired. Of course, it does not mean we have a right to expect things lasting forever, but it is one of the few parts of English law where some common sense seems to be the working principle! It's always better to try the nice way first, so conmankillers suggestion of a letter to Skoda customer services is a sound one and more likely to get a result than just ringing the local dealer.

Hi --- Try writing to Skoda UK customer services asking them kindly to repair a inherent design fault that has only just come to your attention. On occasions they will out of goodwill arrange for the dealer to carry out the works free of charge to keep loyal customers happy and hopefully keep returning, even though your car is only just out of warranty the worst they can do is refuse.....or at the best admire you for asking.

There is probably a rubber strip that goes round the edge. It may need pushing back into position or it may need replacing. Sometimes it gets pulled out of its position to access roofrack fitting holes. Rather than paying hundreds, if no other option presents itself, look at getting some of the rubber strip used from a scrap yard.
