Re: if i settle the claim personally, how does that effect my claims history

Hi -- I would ask for the agreement in writing from your insurer that this will be recorded as a "none fault" incident against your history and that it will not affect future premiums if you decide to pay the claim voluntarily in full.

This will avoid any misunderstanding in future proposals where you will be entitled to declare it as a none fault incident, that cost your insurers nothing. Although you will have to refer to it as a none fault claim, it should not increase your premium.

if i settle the claim personally, how does that effect my claims history

I had an incident last year, my insurance company is still in the process of setteling the claim and more then likely it will be a 50-50 settlement. I already have one at fault claim against my name and another one would ruin my dreams for a sports car.

So after a discussion at length with my insurance company and the third party insurance company, they have said if i pay the full amount of the claim directly to the other insurane company and the excess mounting to £1200 the case would be closed and i would not get an 'at fault claim against me'.

I did not make a claim on my side, so did not get a repair done and so far my insurance company has not paid anything.

I would be gratefull if some one could advised me on how this incident will show up on my claims history and what do i tell the future insurance companies, do i mention this incident if so what do i disclose

If I settle this, would this still be considered a claim , if so which type (at fault, not at fault or no need to mention this) as insurance companies do not a personally settled option in the claims history

The last thing i want is to pay all this money and still have 2 at fault claims against my name.

    many thanks in advance
