31 Days Cover on Annual Travel Insurance

    Hi,

I am going on a 31-day trip to Australia (returning on the 31st day). I note that the Annual insurance policies state a maximum of 31 days cover for each trip. Am I safely covered with such policies? For example:

Is it 31 calendar days, or 31 days in terms of hours ?

What if my return fllight is delayed and I can't return until the 32nd day ?

    Many thanks,

    Justin Slater

Re: 31 Days Cover on Annual Travel Insurance

    Hi Justin

The trip duration limit generally includes the day you travel out and the day you return regardless of the times you actually travel. For example if someone travels out on the 1st October the would be covered until the 31st October not the 1st November as this would be the 32nd day of the trip.

If your return home is delayed for reasons beyond your control i.e. flight problems or medical reasons then most policies will automatically extend. This will either be extended until you are able to return or for a set period after which time insurers would agree an additional premium.

    Hope this helps.

    Many thanks for the reply.

Having selected a policy that seems sutiable - do you know how I can contact the company prior to taking out the policy, in order to get confirmation of your points ? I could see nowhere on the the moneysupermarket site where it enables you to contact the insurer.

    Regards,

    Justin

When you have identified the prefered product contact the provider directly. If you look through the policy wording (which you can review online before purchase) there will probably be a customer services number to contact. If not just use the search engines to find their normal site and call them on the general contact number.

    Hope this helps.
