    Annual Travel Insurance

    Hi

Recently booked 2 holidays with a leading tour operator but found their insurance to be quite high as they were going to charge £50 for each holiday. When I told the lady I would sort out my own insurance she said that they would need to see the policy and also I needed to get this sorted out within a month or they would just charge me for their insurance. I was just wandering if I did sort out my own insurance are they able to turn round and say it is not good enough?? Never been asked for his before so just wandered where I stood with this. Myself and my husband are going away in June and then taking my step son who is 13 away in October so was looking at a family annual policy.

    Thanks

    Lou

    Re: Annual Travel Insurance

One of the reasons tour operators request travel insurance is that they are liable to get you treatment in the event that you fall ill or have an accident and don’t not have insurance. With this in mind I can understand why they insist to see insurance documentation.

The tour operator certainly has no right to just "add it on" but it is certainly within its rights to prevent you from travelling unless you show the documentation.

All insurance sold in the UK is usually reasonable when it comes to accident cover so I cannot see a situation where the Tour operator could claim it wasn’t sufficient
