    Bizarre situation with Endsleigh

    Hi all,

I'm 17, and looking to be added onto the insurance for my family's VW Polo (1L). The insurance is due in march, which is 7 months away. Doing a quote from endsleigh on this site reveals they want just over £700 for the whole year. Since my family are already with endsleigh, I reckon I could just be added for the remaining 7 months of the policy.

Phoned them up today, and for the 7 months they're wanting £1100. What the hell? I have a full UK license, but what I don't understand is how it's cheaper to get insured for the whole year.....

Some insurers charge extra for providing "temporary cover" on a vehicle, so it's possible that Endsleigh may be charging the 7 months at a far more expensive temporary rate, which would ironically work out more expensive than a full year at the standard rate!

But I am confused at what you say about "the insurance is due in March". Do you mean you have a policy in your name in place already for this vehicle, which is due for renewal in March?
