Re: Don't get caught out by your insurer

I think AA have problems with their computer systems, as they did not send me renewals for several years and just collected the annual payment which had remained the same. I recently cancelled it and they did not have my address correctly formatted on the part of the system used for generating documents.

Suggest that you make a formal complaint to AA using their complaints process. After 8 weeks, if AA have not resolved to your satisfaction, you can pass your complaint to the FOS.

I have been caught out by a strange one

I was insured with AA car insurance with :legal, protected no claims and breakdown.

AA car insurance sent me a letter with a renewl quote,if I want it I had to ring and give a ref no.

I had found a cheaper quote so didn't ring,I got a letter saying that the renewl date had past and I hadn't been in touch so I was not insured with them.

However I had got a mini statement and went into the bank to find out what £92.22 had been taken out for.

    AA ''BREAK DOWN''

I rang AA only to be told that it is was automatic renewl for AA break down.

They say they sent me a letter which I did not recieve,as it was a few days past my renewl date I would have to pay to cancel!!

Re: Don't get caught out by your insurer

I found the article by Peter very interesting and relevant. I have found myself caught between two insurer. The former insurer (that automatically debited my account without my consent) only offers half refund after a £15 administration fees.

Peter's article did not comment on what options we have as customers and what to do in these circumstances. Any advice will be appreciated.

Is writing to my bank or the regulation bodies would help?

    Thanks

Don't get caught out by your insurer

With the introduction of new car registrations approaching, chances are your car insurance policy will soon be up for renewal. However, unless you’re careful your policy could be renewed without you even knowing it, leaving you to miss out on some significant savings. Peter Gerrard looks at this in more detail…
