    Accident/Insurance Query

Had a prang last night - long story cut short, other driver turned left out of a car park too fast and too wide (she took up half of my side of the road), I was coming other way but was not left enough time to stop or enough space to avoid her (as she was half on my side of road). They at first said it was my fault (though they couldn't really give a good reason why) but they have phoned me up saying that if I got a quote for the work they would pay to have the damages repaired (if it wasn't too excessive) and avoid using insurance companies. My questions are:

I have reported this to the insurance company already, so should I tell them that she has made this offer?

Would this offer be taken as some kind of admittance of fault on the other drivers part?

Can a claim be cancelled if I took up the offer?

    Thanks for the help.

In my opinion yes you should.

Yes, if it is confirmed that they have made the offer above...... but proving it is more difficult if they deny it.

Can a claim be cancelled if I took up the offer?

Now that you have told your insurer it will always be recorded, however if the other driver or their insurers pay for the lot, then you will be not be penalised in future and it will be recorded as a "none fault" claim which has not caused your insurer to stand any losses.

    Re: Accident/Insurance Query

Thanks for the reply. Turns out that I told them (by text) how much it would cost to repair the car and they replied to say that they would go through the insurance route, and now suddenly they have found damage to their car and will be claiming for it. This I find odd because when they made the original offer to pay for the damage to my car they didn't mention anything about me having to pay for damage to their car. Well I have reported all of this to the insurance company and will wait to see what happens.
