SSE follows Eon in hiking prices

SSE has followed Eon in hiking its gas and electricity prices:

What does this latest round of price hikes mean for you? Are you worried that you won't be able to afford your energy bills or do you have any tips or advice you can offer to those already struggling?

Re: SSE follows Eon in hiking prices

I have just looked at my prices with Southern Electric

Announced here and in the press the increase prices were quoted as

    Gas - +29.2%

    Electric - + 19.2%

The prices they are quoting on their website is a different matter, they are as follows..

Gas - 33.2% + 4% more than they mentioned in the press and on here

Electric - +24.4% + 5.2% more than they mentioned in the press and on here

Am I missing something here, or are we being mislead. If its an average price rise (not stated anywhere), does this mean some are paying 5% less??

I have been with Southern for some years and feel like I am being mislead, is this illegal what they are doing by announcing price increases but increasing them by more??

I am looking to go with Ebico... not only are they cheaper but they have good ethics. I called them earlier and they said there would be an increase soon but couldn't say when or what the prices would be, but they knew they were happening.. good to be secret :o))
