    Eon hikes prices

Eon has become the latest energy provider to hike its gas and electricity prices:

What does this latest round of price hikes mean for you? Are you worried that you won't be able to afford your energy bills or do you have any tips or advice you can offer to those already struggling?

    Re: Eon hikes prices

If you don't mind paying by monthly direct debit and fancy an online account, then Eons 'Energy Online Extra Saver V8' is not affected by the latest price rise for about 4/6 months so the price can be deferred until the latest round of price rises has settled and we know what all the companies have done then compare. The tariff has excellent discounts as well depending on where you live. 16.5% if you live in the Norweb area.

    Re: Eon hikes prices

    Artemis,

How do you know that this tariff won't change for 4/6 months? If you have inside knowledge, why can't you be precise about the date change ?

If this is public information, what is the source for this information and can you provide a weblink, please.

Are you suggesting that customers start to switch to this product even though it may take two months for the switch to go through? Do you work for Eon by any chance?

Sorry but I would want to know more about this before committing to a product on the basis of your posting on an open forum.

    Thanks.

    Re: Eon hikes prices

In February 08 when Eon last put their prices up there was one tariff that didn't rise and that was Energy online extra saver V5 which didn't rise until August08. I think the same is happening this time with V8 as that tariff is not affected by this round of price rises. The idea behind it I think is that the tariff will show up on sites like this as the cheapest around.

Yes I do work for Eon but I'm not privy to any inner workings. I'm just using history. The normal switch between companies takes 4/5 weeks by the way.

    Re: Eon hikes prices

MS say that it takes between 28 and 49 days to switch supplier so we will split the difference.

So, you are advocating customers switch now to Eon only to face an increase in a few months time?

Checking out the V8 against my consumption pattern shows Eon as more expensive than even such horror companies of BG and Npower' eqivalent online tariffs. In the case of NP there is a significant difference of over £100.On the basis that they will all play this silly marketing ploy of offerring the short term bait, I can't see that your advice to switch to Eon holds any merit, particularly prior to the heavy winter consumption,by which time they will have hiked the price.

I would advise that people steer clear until Eon and the remaining companies (NP and SP) reveal their full hand.

    Re: Eon hikes prices

I wasn't advocating switching to Eon but just pointing out a tariff that is not affected by the current price rise.
