Sky Marks & Spencer Voucher offer 2008

I signed up for Sky TV and Broadband via a link sent to me from a friend. We were both supposed to get £50 M&S vouchers if we signed up before May 2008. My Sky was installed on May 28th. I have now chased for the vouchers 4 times both by email and phone and only been told that due to demand they are still processing them. I have now spoken to Consumer Direct who have advised me to put in writing (apparently email isn't considered to be writing in court !!) and to give them 7 days to respond then take them to court if necessary.

Has anyone else had this problem recently? I see from a blog that this was a problem last year but there haven't been any postings since.

I'm now in the process of writing to Sky but would like to know that I'm not alone with this. Do Sky think that they can fob me off? if so they're sadly mistaken.

I know how you feel - these companies who tempt you with freebies that don't materialize - good luck - keep us posted

I would be tempted to write to the MD of sky interactive - Ian Shepherd - to see what he thinks

Hi, I'm just wondering if you ever received your M&S vouchers?

I recomended Sky to my parents last November and both promised £50 vouchers but suprise surprise, we still have not received them. Even after 4 or 5 phone calls to them. I have been told 6 weeks, then 2 weeks then 1 week and still no vouchers.

I'm wondering if we will ever receive them!

I certainly won't lel them fob me off either.

Do you have an address and department who I can write to at sky?

Re: Sky Marks & Spencer Voucher offer 2008

    Typical...

Sky Interactive MD Ian Shepherd has quit just months after an operational restructure of the iTV advertising and enhanced TV services division. Shepherd will step down at the end of this month to join Vodafone as director of commercial operations with responsibility for managing sales and customer retention in the UK. His role will be temporarily filled by Sky Interactive commercial director Will Harding and head of betting/gambling Nick Rust. Both will report to chief marketing director..

So I guess that you need Will Harding

    Grant Way
    Isleworth, London Tw7 5qd

    or Robert Fraser
Director of Corporate Communications - same address

Good luck - keep us posted......

I rang Sky and asked them for an address to write to then wrote to Sky and quoted the fact that I had been in touch with Consumer Direct (Trading Standards)

Surprise, surprise we received our vouchers within the week

Re: Sky Marks & Spencer Voucher offer 2008

    Dear Mrs Grumpy,

Don't waste ANY effort writing to Sky, either by email or by written hand YOU SIMPLY ARE NOT IMPORTANT ENOUGH!

I've posted my dealings twice on this fab little site. I'll bring all of you in the same boat up to speed.

I was promised M&S vouchers last September - none have yet materialised.

YOU MUST ACCEPT SKY ARE NOT A NICE COMPANY - GET THAT IN YOUR HEAD AND UNDERSTAND THEY HAVE UTTER CONTEMPT FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS!

I contacted the A.S.A (Advertising Standards Agency) just google ASA, go to their complaints option, fill in the form but be specific, with as much "accurate" information as possible. They WILL contact you in a few days asking if you wish ASA to represent your case againsed Sky. They will, if you agree, email you back, keeping you informed of progress.

My latest gripe with Sky was 8th Feb, got hte old "No Satellite Signal being recieved" message. All stations were out of action. So had a few stiff drinks to get myself on the same mental level as their customer service. It took 9 attempts to get through to "Technical". Well, stuff me I must have been the lucky one. Got straight through to Mombai in India to "Asian Bob". I have no problem with any culture. What REALLY gets right up my chuff is when your continually asking your operator to repeat his question as you simply can't understand what he said. I told him I couldn't understand him he would have to speak more clearly as his dialect was such a thick Indian accent. Suprisingly it improved. I'd have been the same with any person I couldn't understand. Anyway, after ponsing about with him for 55 mins, with him telling me to enter codes to my sky box via the remote, without success, I convinced him it had all gone Pete Tong, lets get the engineers out! Sky couldn't get them to me for 10 days!!!!!

Got to admit, I did spout of a bit. I had the right *** by this time, so demanded monetary compensation for loss of service. After consulting his manager he offered mr £4.75 That did it, told them it was a friggin insult. I asked to be put through to cancellations, I'd just about had enough. It was no surprise no one was available. So, next morning decided to poke my beak out the front door and see if there was anything obvious that would stop my Sky working. Well hit me with a brick, the lead to the dish had come out. Did no more than get up a ladder and repair the joint (used to install aerials), went inside, fired up the old Sky, within 2mins service was resumed. I now had a choice to make, bearing in mind my kids love Sky and we have Sky Broadband. Do I ring up tell them (if I could get through) to poke it were the sun don't shine. We all know from BBC1 to Ch5 on normal telly can cause people to eat their own feet it's so boring, we'd all much rather be watching "Cops" or some delightful documentry with people getting up to no good and blasting each other or some soul having a 6" knife removed from their skull, or dance classes for dog and owner, that sort of stuff

I made the call next day, selecting the cancellations option. Well holy crap, Mrs Doubtfire came on the line, with that lovely smooth Scottish accent. Not being put off by that I ranted for 10 mins telling her I still hadn't had my friggin M&S vouchers and I'd promised myself £50 worth of M&S grub for last Christmas but no vouchers no grub. She was so convinsing "oh my dear man" she said, "thats truly awful, you poor man" she purred. She PROMISED to sort my vouchers out, cancel the engineers, as I'd fixed the dish and make sure I was given a £10 credit to my account for all the phone calls I'd made to Sky. My vouchers would be with me in 2 weeks TOPS. The whole conversation lasted 56 mins!!!

JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZUS, you lying toe rag! No vouchers turned up, got my Sky bill in NO CREDIT and stuff me if the engineers didn'yt turn up on the 18th Feb. Here slippery tongue fooled me to believe at last I'd spoken to an honest caring member of Sky's staff.

Take it from me DON'T BELIEVE A WORD SKY SAYS.....EVER

If you have a dispute get legal beagle or simply stop your direct debit (they don't like that). I stopped mine and got a phone call from "David", one of Sky's accounts team asking if I was aware my direct debit had ceased. He gave me all the mumbo jumbo about termination if payment was not re-instated.

I'd just about had enough of this knob, "now listen Dorothy" I said, I knew he'd take offence to that, "Sky owe me fifty quids worth of M&S Vouchers, cough them up and a £10 credit for my calls to you and a letter of apology and I'll fire up the direct debit again". I made him aware the ASA were involved with my case and had advised me I was entitled to compensation for loss of service AND could claim for a credit on call charges if Sky was at fault so long as I had proof.

Dorothy said a manager would call me back. Haven't had a call, haven't had my Sky cut off or a letter of apology. It's been over two weeks now with no contact from Sky.

It really does prove they simply can't be arsed. My advise is just contact a legal body for ANY problems with Sky.

Re: Sky Marks & Spencer Voucher offer 2008

    Hi,

I threatened to cancel my whole sky package because of the vouchers buisness. When I was put through to the cancellations department, I received £20 discount.

Then I emailed Sky on 2 different email addresses via their website and mentioned the fact that I had been in touch with Consumer Direct (Trading Standards)

No surprise that our vouchers were received with one week - and my parents (who I recomended sky to) received theirs too.

Sky TV seriously need to sort out their customer service team. We are considering moving to FreeSat and would recomend that other people look into this too as there is life outside Sky TV.
