Emigrating to New Zealand - one way travel insurance

    Hi,

I'm a UK resident who is about to emigrate to New Zealand, visiting Africa for 2 months on the way. I've had a look through some backpacker travel insurance policies and am unsure whether they are eligable for one way journeys.

    Can anyone be of help?

    Thanks,
    Jonathon

I would be surprised if many policies distinguished between one-way and return journeys. Most backpacker policies last for a period of time and, if you're not home when the policy expires, your cover just ends.

I assume that you wont want much (if any) cover while in NZ. Their health service is good and easy to access but you do need to register with a GP soon after arriving to get all the benefts.
