Hi Backfoot I found the details on another pricecomparison site, Uswitch also send me monthly update emails,and its on there, have cut and pasted the details from their email: ScottishPower have launched a new fixed price plan, “Fixed Price Energy October 2009”. The plan is available for dual fuel and electricity only customers and you must pay by monthly Direct Debit. The charges for this plan are higher for gas by £9 a month (based on current monthly Direct Debit prices) and £9 a month for electricity (based on current monthly Direct Debit prices), BUT they will not increase if ScottishPower increases prices between now and 30th September 2009. The plan is not yet available on the market, but customers can pre-register their switch with uSwitch today and ScottishPower will begin processing your switch to ”Fixed Price Energy October 2009” between 21st and 25th August.

hi i am with edf price saver 2008 until 31st sept But itook Martin Lewis advice and am in the process of moving to Scottish Powers capped price until 31st Aug 2009. shortly after i switched online the offer was withdrawn due to demand i suspect. Its all a bit confusing but what else can we do but take a bit of a gamble. TOP CAT.

I just moved to npower from edf, npower according to sky news are the only supplier that are not planning to raise their tarrifs. YET!

EDF advised me that increased charges would be £3 each per month. I do find this hard to believe but as the offers were going so quickly I accepted their latest offer. NP sounds good and hope it works for you, they were too expensive the last time I used them, mind you I was living in an older house then.

My good deal was that I happen to call up at the right time to get the fixed deal as there were only 200,000 places and 5 million customers who will be written to this week with the "new fixed deal". As British Gas has now announced their prices I think there is very little left on the website to choose from. Martin Lewis this morning said by Thursday there'll be nothing left in offers and he is very rarely wrong with his assumptions.

You do have a good offer and obviously different companies suit different people.

We have just recently moved suppliers (about 3 months ago) Seeing as EDF have released that they are going to increase their prices it is more likely that the rest will follow suit. So until they have done this then best stick with EDF. Once all prices have gone up then do the comparison and see which one best suits.

I was interested in your post and did my own research.Running the EDF Fixed Price 2009 product would raise my annual dual fuel bill by £572 p.a. compared with my current supplier.I am in the process of switching to NP Fixed 2011 which is some £364 cheaper than the EDF product and protects for a further two years.

I am a medium/high energy user but I can't see that there is much to warrant the EDF product until the other suppliers show their hand following EDF's shock announcement.

I have never ever come across an energy company who offers 'a good deal' if you threaten to leave. What were the details you were offerred?

MS currently don't show the EDF fixed price product in their comparison model.

I was very surprised to hear the unhappiness you had with EDF. I have been with them now for 2 years. I have tried NPower which was very expensive. When I receive a bill from EDF, albeit gas or electric, it is always estimated as their meters only get read once a year (I think). I read the relevant meter and phone the reading in via a freephone number and get an up to date bill by return.

I have been on a fixed rate with them and just started a new fixed rate yesterday until Sept 2009. Unfortunately it does include the price increase. I live in a 3 bed/2 bathroom house, never go without heating in winter and every summer I get a refund from them of at least £100 and I only pay £35 a month for both of them in total now. So I cannot complain and extremely happy with them.

Before changing, check the conditions and see if there is a "get out charge". Check their unit charges and compare with what you have now. I have tried to get through to the moneysupermarket for help but their lines have been so busy I got fed up waiting and did my own research, the main thing is change if you feel you are paying too much. You will find that sometimes if you threaten to leave, they come up with some good deals.

I am with edf energy really am looking to move to a new supplier.

Have looked about and npower comes up as the best company on the list.

Was wondering if anyone has any advice as I don’t want to do the wrong thing.

I have a special needs child and know British gas do the essentials tariff where Gas is10.4% cheaper and electric is 4.8% cheaper than their standard tariff.

I am with just standard rates at the moment with duel fuel (edf). Would they be the best company to move to?

Any advice would be really appreciated
