    Hello Will_w,

Plusnet do offer a 1 month rolling contract at a cost of £40 set up fee and Madasafish can provide line rental for £9.99 only a £50 cancellation fee.

    Hope this helps?

    Michael.

No "get-out" clauses of any kind for BT. Its in their moving home Ts & Cs that a new 12 month contract must be agreed.

Depending on the status of the line in your new property ie. is it still active or has it been disconnected or just stopped , you could get The Phone Co-op to restart it with a minimum term of 3 months rental and thereafter terminate with 1 months notice or use The Post Office which has no minimum term to re-install the line if its been disconnected.. As for broadband ISPs such as Newnet do monthly agreements.

Sometimes they say "it's a 12 month contract" on the phone without giving anything in writing that you can check. Normally, if you use 9 month of a 12 month BT contract, they will just let you pay everything up to date then walk away from the contract. It would be worth getting and checking something in writing though.

    Termination of contract when immigrating

Due to my current landlord wanting to sell his house, I am having to move to a new property at the beginning of June - but I will not be there for 12 months as I will be immgrating to Australia next March. Despite having been a customer with Plusnet for two years, and having had a BT landline for 8 years, they both want to tie me in to another 12 month period. A friend has told me that immigration provides a get-out clause from these contracts - is this the case?
