Some vehicles do not show up on the Parkers site if they are old and this is make and model dependant. For cars that are not listed, it will encourage you to pay for to see the current valuation. At time of writing, I think the full Parkers service cost £6.99 but it lasts for a year. Not really suitable for the home user that has a limited turnover in cars but handy if you are being or selling through various car sales site/auction sites or have a business premises.

I did try to "google" it before I posted this message and all I got was hundreds of links to car insurance companies.
I am looking for a document that outlines which cars fall into each category wither in a book or a website.
If I ring an insurance company will they be able to send me any guidance?

To get the best possible insurance premiums you need to look for cars that fall into insurances groups 1 - 4, so you are looking at the likes of Fiat Punto, Toyota Yaris, Peugeot 206, however if you run a google search for which cars fall into these insurance groups you should be able to find many more.
