etting car insurance after a ban

I kn I've been stupid, I'd held my full licence since 1986- 2003 without a problem when within a week Jul 03 I got caught twice in excess of the speed limit so two SP30's and a total of £60 in fines. Then in May last year much to my everlasting regret I drove and got caught drink driving. I received no points but a £150 fine and 12month ban successfully reduced to 9 months on completing a drink drivers rehab course. I had Protected no claims throughout this time and also when I was driving two cars were written off in collision in Dec 04 and Jun 04 respectively. At all times I was the nominated additional driver on the polices.

I'm legal to drive on the 28th Feb and need some advice on getting the cheapest possible car insurance. The car is a hyundai accent 2002 model, paid off. In addition my older wife drives it but far less then me, she has a clean licence. I need to drive the car any ideas on getting cheaper car insurance due to my poor record most insurers are not interested or offering over £1000 cover for third party Fire & Theft! Any companies willing to help any help will be much appreciated.

    Thanks paul
