    Hi Scott,

Thank you for your swift reply, and trying to get a contact number for me... look forward to geting that.

In terms of information you need:

I used to pay be pay-point, and the annual consumption never exceeded£7,000. and was just an electricity tariff.

    Thank you soo much Scott,

    Will wait for your reply.

    Re: Electricity Usage problem

    Kp345,

I have contacted someone at British Gas and will try to get you a contact number asap.

Not too sure about the tariff being set too high but what it could be is that when they have set-up your direct debit (i assume this is how you pay!?) they have set it too low OR that since your contract began your energy consumption has dramatically increased.

I would advise that you review your energy bills and consumption for the past 3 years in order to identify if there have been any dramatic increases in consumption.

Other information that would be of use would be:

    Tariff Name
    Annual Consumption
    Annual Spend
Is this a dual fuel tariff (Gas & Electric)?

If you want to send me any more information send it to scott.byrom AT moneysupermarket.com.

    Electricity Usage problem

    Hello there,

I have this problem with British gas.....

I have a small business open from around 6am-9pm/ Have been with BG, and always paid bills on time.

2weeks ago they sent me a letter and invoive requesting payment of £43,000 in payment, as all bills paid were only estimates, and no-one had come to read my meter in the last 3years!!!!

I recall people coming. But can they do this,? is it not their fault if they havnt read the meter????

they are requesting payment in 7days, dont know what to do... please help... any advice, as to why they are demanding this, and if they can do so???

Was reading somewhere, that the tariff may have been set too high... could this be possible??

    Please help.... kp345
