    Broadband @ £5 not available

I left sky in the summer (tv package) due to house renovations and re-joined 3 months later on the 3 for £26 deal.

Unfortunately my PC was still in storage so paid £21 as I had no use at that time for Broadband.

I recently called them to add the Broadband but was told the exchange in my area was full and that the Broadband would be £17 per month!

I'm now with Tiscali and have found them fantastic.

Anyone else had the same problem?

If the problem is having delusional fantasies that Tiscali is a fantastic company then no, I'm not sure that many people do have that problem. :) But if it works for you...

The original problem of full exchanges is quite standard. As long as the company gives you the correct information about the status of the exchanges at the time of each contact then there is nothing untoward happening.

Re: Broadband @ £5 not available

I'm a bit disenchanted with Sky because the exchange upgrade scheduled for summer 2007 has not, nor is likely to happen.

So, I'm left with Sky Connect @£17pm as the only option bar changing to another provider. Of course, you can only have Sky BB if you sub scribe to one of their TV packages. This I am beginning to look at because I do not need any of the premium channels and would probably find that Freesat is more than suitable.

Unsubscribing from Sky would force me to change ISP. There seem to be only 2 methods of delivery; cable or over the BT infrastructure. I was very satisfied (unusual?) with TV and broadband cable services I used to get from ntl. I am sure that ntl cable services plus the BTphone line were collectively more expesnive than what I pay now for all these services.

I have moved to a non-cabled area so am comparing what different companies offer over the BT network.

Often the case that what the sales office anticipate may have nothing to do with what the technicians have planned. Caveat emptor.
