Jopes 007, totally agree with you mate,

It seems nowadays that bank are trying to increase their profits.
All banks as well as creditcard companies will have received notification from the ombusman regarding "unfair charges" applied to accounts, as a result.......all banks "now think" before applying charges to your account" Well done Finanical ombudsman and Comissioner Information offices: (Fact- it should cost no more than £10.89 -£12.50 for a returned directdebit/deafult etc so why are we being charged £25 £30 each time ???? "It is clearly stated that an institution can only charge customers what is costs them, and not to make a profit (as they have been doing)

However....now the banks are annoyed, they lost the above war and now their moving their charges elsewhere.....and where better..than to charge us for our bank account priveldges, they know that you can get these refunded as it will be a term "for you when opening the account"
    Clever huh !!!

Check this:--- i recently won a case of "unfair bank charges applied to my account in excess of £150, these have recently been refunded only after i challenged their "standard letter explaining charges" but....now they want to close my account.......
seems to me, if the bank cant make money out of you, then, they dont really want your business,.
    They should ashamed of themselves.

I will be asking for a chunk of my interest profits, and also be quering why cheques take so long to clear...
    watch this space !!

At a time when all banks have announced scandalous profits, not only should the possibility of such a charge be blown out of the water, but the time is right for customers of all UK (and Irish) banks, to insist on payment of some of the interest their banks make on the overnight investment of their money.
