Re: Moving house, Virgin ask for cancellation fee

Thank you for taking the time to answer my posting. Virgin Media have actually waived the remaining months on the contract but have charged me the cancellation fee of £120. So I guess they've been quite ok. I would just warn others that if they are thinking of moving make sure the area they are moving to is one that Virgin service (if you are still in the first 12 months of the contract), and if they do not, give 30 days cancellation notice IN WRITING or obviousy, other option is not to move until first 12 months of the contract expires and even then, don't forget to give 30 days written notice.

Re: Moving house, Virgin ask for cancellation fee

I am pretty sure that in the eyes of the law, by moving house it is you that has broken the terms of the contract, which i am guessing (without setting eyes on the agreement itself) is to supply you with the services AT THAT ADDRESS? I suggest you check the agreement for this detail. If so you are on weak grounds in legal terms, but should consider negotiating a suitable compromise with them - ie taking the nearest available package if they will waive the fees?? This is obviously up Virgin at the end of the day, but they should really aim to work with and keep a customer rather than get a fee and loose one? Good luck.

    Hi Frog

Did you ever resolve this issue as I'm in exactly the same situation, have refused to pay their bill for £225 !! and they said they are going to refer it to a debt collection agency. I believe I should be able to go to court and argue that they couldn't provide me with service I contracted for, it it them that has broke the contract and not the other way round.

    Any ideas anyone ?

    Thanks Jesusfreakmccn

There is no cable connection in the area, therefore Virgin cannot give us the same service than previously. As they cannot offer the service, we have to cancel the contract with they claim that we are breaking the contract. I think it is the reverse. Any idas, precedents? Thanks

Moving house, Virgin ask for cancellation fee

I am moving house and Virgin Media cannot provide me with the same bundle package. They want to charge me to cancel, arguing that I broke the contract.... I think that they are as they cannot give me what I had! Can someone tell me my rights?

    Thanks
