Hi ---Yes, I had it connected to check in on Vodafone it connected, but I did not use it for long as I believe it eats your credit up, as said I just want that for emergency use.

You might ask any proposed new provider as I am not certain which tariffs may or may not be allowed this. ? I think mine is called "smartstep".

The phone is all set up to do it, but after I had problems I called O2 and they confirmed that with them you can not use this facility as a PAYG customer. Hence I'm looking round for a new provider.

Have you actually used your phone as a modem with Vodaphone?

Hi -- As long as you have the software to configure it which is usually a CD that comes with your mobile, then I see no reason that you cannot, I have my Vodafone PAYG mobile installed on my laptop as a back up for emergency use only.

PAYG Airtime Provider that allows phone used as modem

Do any airtime providers allow Pay As You Go customers to use their mobile phones as modems?

I'm on O2 PAYG, and although the phone is capable of being used as a modem to connect to the internet, O2 will not allow this for PAYG customers.

I only need to use the phone as modem very occasionaly and don't want to be tied to a contract.

If anyone can help I would be very greatful
