Re: Women drive a good deal on insurance

In 2002 - the latest figures available - male drivers committed 94 per cent of driving offences causing death and serious injury (Source: Home Office). Even allowing for the additional amount of male drivers and the additional average mileage per annum - male drivers are still about nine/ten times more likely to kill or permanently cripple or otherwise seriously injure people in road crashes than female drivers. They are also twice as likely to be be killed in road crashes than female drivers.

In 2002 male drivers also committed 97 per cent of dangerous driving offences, 89 per cent of drink or drug driving offences, 85 per cent of careless driving offences, 83 per cent of speeding offences, and 84 per cent of offences involving neglect of traffic signs and directions and of pedestrian rights (Source: Home Office). These figures were much the same in previous years, and will no doubt continue to be much the same in following years.

In 2006 - the latest figures available - there were 3,172 road deaths, 28,673 serious injuries and 226,559 minor injuries (Source DfT).

The anti-camera propagandists would have people believe that the main cause of fatal and serious injury road crashes is inattention and driver error, but does it seem likely that male drivers are nine/ten times more inattentive than female drivers or nine/ten more times prone to driver error, or could it be that male drivers - but by no means all - tend to drive faster and more aggressively than female drivers? We all know the answer of course!

Re: Women drive a good deal on insurance

    Thanks for your comments,

to be honest I really dont give a dogs crap about this issue, I replied simply because zoe seems to be obbsesed by it. I used to have a car in in my homeland Italy but working as a petrochemical engineer in Saudia I dont even need insurance so insurance is not something I need on my mind and as I am a man I am the only gender allowed to drive (and work) by kingdom law in Saudia which is something I feel deeply against however, Im not making threads about it saying "look how good it is for us fellas" and taunting women like zoe is >trying< to do as I just rubbished all her claims. I do appreciate your comments and I do see why you think I am taking it personally but as I have rubbished all of her claims and even if they were true they make no difference to me whatsoever so I am not taking it personally

    Hi Johnny

I think you're being a little over-sensitive on the whole issue.

You need to get out a bit more mate!  ;o)

Oh, and by the way - just in case you're wondering - I'm female.

Re: Women drive a good deal on insurance

Yes, my previous posts were deleted for offensive terms and for talking about zoes menstrul cycle, my aologies. My point was though that looking at the profile I found it very odd she seems obsessed with womens car insurance and keep trying to mock men about this. I was saying in the last email that yes some young men in some countries pay slightly more for car insurance but we pay less for everything else, hair, clothes, makeup, toiletiries even underwear and that women pay more for health insurance, PPI and have lower annuities for the same reasons as some men in some countries get more expensive car insurance and undoubtedly a lot of women do get ripped off by mechanics, also in many countires women arent even allowed to drive. The average men also gets paid £6000 more then women (in senior management this rises to £24000 so what exactly is the effect of insurance lol?). Men pass with an average of 14 lessons less then women (quite a saving if your a man!) and have a higher pass rate; men take 1.7 attempts to pass while women tak 2.4

     http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article513993.ece

and the inferior driving abilities of women is why there are no women in F1 or even F2,F3,GP2 or rallying, motsport etc. and why women are twice as likely to crash at junctions then men and infact are more likely to crash then men (but as they are at lower speeds are less likely to claim so are better to insure).

    http://www.scienceagogo.com/news/19980516133725data_trunc_sys.shtml

I brought this up as you don’t see men making threads about this and why doesn’t she discuss this if she is so bent on womens car insurance. And speaking of insurance, what affect has it actually had on men? One of the reasons women get cheaper insurance is that there are less women drivers and they have less milage so men drive MORE then women. There are 17.2 million men compared to 14 million women with liscences in the UK (in some countries the number of women is 0 as females are not allowed to drive in many countries) and men have a whopping 74% more milage in the US. Men are passing at higher rates then women and with less lessons (men take 1.7 attemps to pass compared to 2.12 for women in the UK and on average men take 14 less lessons, (quite a nice saving if you’re a man I’d say!). That’s a UK stat but it is a world wide trend, even in Italy where I’m from. In some parts of the US women are twice as likely as men to fail). As more women drive there will be more crashes by simple probabillty calculations infact in the period 1973 to 2003 womens fatalities INCREASED by 14% while mens actually DECREASED by 11% also as more women become lorry drivers, taxi drivers etc. and there will be more women there will be more crashes. The main reasons young women get cheaper car insurance is that young women (and older) drive smaller, cheaper, less powerful cars and there is nothing wrong with that if that’s what women want. Men still drive faster, more powerful, modified cars and are much more likely to driver super/hyper cars but that’s what we want just as women will pay more for shoes, makeup, clothes and feminine toiletries – that’s what they want. Taxi drivers, bus drivers, lorry drivers, stunt men, driving instructors, even pilots, captains, tank drivers, soldiers, seamen etc. are men. Men and only men are winning F1, F2, F3, rallying, a nice bit of money if you’re a man! Men even invented the car! Men are the ones who use vehicles to be the first men on the moon, space, to discover this country, that country etc. So what exactly is your point about car insurance??

Also think about it logically. Your making fun because men pay more for car insurance in some countries – well we dont the only time we really pay a mentionable amount more is for teen drivers … Lol and who pays for that? Lol its the parents and if your parents pay more for your lets say brother then it is affecting you just as much - your parents spending more on insurance when they could have spent it on your family.

Lol you really weren't think logically today were you?

Now now girls you all know that half the claims  made on the husbands insurance are while the wife is driving it!!  Also if the girl has a bump her rich boyfriend pays the bill to save her claiming and losing her bonus. Just keep believing your better girls and we'll keep leaving the seat up :-)

Yes you might as well fleece us poor guys even further I also have to maintain my wife's car, and she only lets me drive it when it needs petrol and of course a wash. Ahhh marital bliss LOL.
If the wife runs off with my best mate, eeeehh I will miss him.

Re: Women drive a good deal on insurance

I think those women who don't claim for 5 years should get 1 years free insurance. What our quotes would have been can be passed onto male drivers, making them pay even more!!! We drive safely so deserve some rewards, not just the satisfaction of getting the cheapest insurance!

Re: Women drive a good deal on insurance

My sister is a 33 year old driver, who has never made any type of claim. Her insurance is slightly cheaper than mine! It is 210 pounds. Her boyfriend usually paid around 560 pounds for his insurance, until recently when he wrote his car off in an accident that was entirely his fault. This premium will probably rise to around 1000 pounds. Luckily, he is a lawyer and can afford it, but that doesn't stop us girls (he has 4 sisters) reminding him of who the better driving sex actually is. We even had a celebratory evening with champagne to celebrate his icompetance. But don't worry Bro, we all still love you really!!

Re: Women drive a good deal on insurance

I think women have more little 'accidents' like bumping other cars in the car park. But when men crash, they tend to do it big time!

I've been driving for just 3 years, I'm 21 so hopefully premium will drop more when I reach 25. In just three years my premium has lowered so that it now matches what my boyfriend pays (despite the fact he's been driving for 11 years). And we both drive the same make, engine size etc of car.

    So life seems good. ;o)

Women drive a good deal on insurance

Car insurance for women has become even cheaper. Last year the average women paid around 300 pounds less for car insurance than the average man. This is bad news for blokes, but fantastic news for the ladies. We have sheilas wheels and diamond to thank for highlighting womens safer driving and rewarding them with cheaper quotes. However, with womens insurance become increasingly cheaper, and mens increasingly more expensive, when will things begin to turn around. In the mean time, enjoy spending the spare cash girls, and whilst you buy those extra shoes or more expensive lipstick, think about the poor blokes, who have to dig deep to find the extra cash, just so the can drive their car!!! Girls Rule!
