Re: Sky Broadband - cheap for a reason!
25 days - you are lucky!!
the Sky boys have some great delay tactics to avoid solving your problems...
I've had a ropey connection since August and still they can't get it working after calling them almost every day at premium rate charges and holding for sometimes up to an hour!
believe me, Sky don't do customer service.

Re: Sky Broadband - cheap for a reason!
My son, he lives next door, had sky broadband, it was all set up late August - and worked well.
Then on 23rd October it stopped.
He reported it - they said it would be two days to fix.
Three days later he telephoned, and they said - he had ceased the service ( not true ).
Two weeks later - Sky admitted they had ceased ALL the services on the Lea Valley Exchange, and it would be at least 15 working days before they could restore service.
All in all that wil be at least 25 days without service.
They obviously have big big problems if they are ceasing services. Do they have a dispute going on with BT ?
Stay well clear of them until they are more organised.

Re: Sky Broadband - cheap for a reason!
I also had Sky, It didn't work. No ebay access, no MSM, No email for most of the time, no answers from Sky about when it would be solved. I gave up and went back to BT.
I agree it may end up being a good alternative, but my experience suggests they are a very long way from it yet.

Maybe in a years time if I'm feeling brave I might give Sky another chance ... but I reckon I'll check out this forum first to see if things have improved!!!

Re: Sky Broadband - cheap for a reason!
To an extent what you say is true, you do get what you pay for, and in the case of Sky it's still very much early doors and they're still experiencing teething problems.
But when they do get their service up and running with fewer problems we think it will be a great deal for consumers, when that is likely to happen is still anyone's guess!!!

Sky Broadband - cheap for a reason!
Always beware of anything that looks too good to be true - it always is. And I fell into this trap when I registered for Sky Broadband.
Like most of the posts I've read on here, I waited 6 weeks for a router that was never going to arrive. After being fobbed off by the Sky customer service dept, who said it could be another 4 weeks to wait - I told them I'd waited long enough and I'm going back to AOL - who, of course, welcomed me back with open arms!
The only downside is that Sky still have "markers" on my BT line - which means I cannot use AOL until they are released. Getting these removed by Sky is now proving to be difficult too ...
Oh - and I'm still waiting for my £20 refund.
Maybe Sky tried to run before they could walk with Broadband - they do not have the experience to cope with it.
If you're considering moving to Sky Broadband, stick with your current ISP!
