    Re: Warning: Beware Loan Scams

Perhaps it was briefly true that you could get 4.9% from Zopa - I didn't check every day - it certainly wasn't true when I saw the ad that disappointed me.  Most important of all though you didn't and don't feature Zopa on your tables so how can you quote their rate?  I just can't agree with your assessment of the advert's accuracy.  I don't think it was ever a reasonable rate to promote.

    Re: Warning: Beware Loan Scams

    Hi fenster,

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. I was waiting for some information.

I've spoken to our Search Engine Marketing Team and also to Tim Moss, our Head of Loans & Debt.

According to the information I have, we featured a loan with Zopa at a rate of 4.9% until the 23rd October 2007.

Obviously, loan rates are continually changing and the criteria for being accepted for such a loan vary according to your personal circumstances. Our sponsored links are updated as soon as possible after these rate changes. As far as I’m aware, the Google sponsored link that you saw was indeed an accurate one.

I hope this helps. If you have any further queries, please don’t hesitate to drop me an email.

    Re: Warning: Beware Loan Scams

When exactly did you feature a rate of 4.9%?  As long as I have been looking for a loan your lowest rate has always been that of the "First Plus Moneysupermarket exclusive"  listed at 6.3% or so.

    fenster,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I can only assume that this is an old sponsored link from the Google website which has not been updated since interest rates went up. I will be investigating this with immediate effect and will let you know as soon as I have an answer.

Apologies to all for any confusion which may have been caused.

    Re: Warning: Beware Loan Scams

Speaking of "too good to be true" Loan rates - here is the MoneySupermarket.com ad on Google when you search for "loans"

    UK's Cheapest Loans
www.moneysupermarket.com/uk_loans      Compare all UK loans for free. 550+ loans listed from 4.9% Well as far as I can tell you DONT cover all UK loans and you do not have any rates at 4.9%.  This terrible cowboy advertising is not in keeping with the moneysupermarket brand

    Warning: Beware Loan Scams

Unfortunately a number of bogus companies and individuals have posted messages on the moneysupermarket.com forums. In particular we have received posts from a number of Nigerian users offering "too good to be true" loan rates. Please do not trust these companies. Always thoroughly investigate any offer of assistance you receive and do not give out any personal information or banking details until you are 100% sure that the company is above board and legitimate. A good rule of thumb is to stick to the loans available through the moneysupermarket.com loans comparison tool to secure the best available rates from legitimate companies, and use our SmartSearch facility to view the products you can attain based on your credit profile.

Though we do our best to delete any bogus posts, sometimes they are not always easy to spot. If you see anything you deem suspicious please assist our cause by clicking the "report abuse" link at the foot of each forum post
