Hi Eddie
Thanks for your email.
If you've been with AOL for over 2 years this means you've finished minimum contract terms so can leave whenever you like. Normally it's good protocol to given them one month's notice before leaving, here's how I would do it:
Just before your last direct debit, check out the market to find the best deals and see what you like and then call AOL to let them know you're cancelling the account following your last payment, (which will still be effective for 1 month). They will try to stop you from leaving AOL by passing you through to the cancellation team who will try to offer you an amazing deal.
At the moment I've heard reports that AOL are offering AOL Silver for £9.95 a month to stop people leaving which is pretty good., (be aware they'll lock you back into a 12 mth contract again).
Consider their offer and the other deals you've seen before making a decision - if you still want to leave ask for a MAC code.
Once you've cancelled the account with AOL and got your MAC code, stop the direct debit and get in contact with the new ISP and give them your MAC code.
Kind Regards
Jason Lloyd
