If you need something fixing it is generally not a good idea to pay in advance and be unable to select who you want to do the fixing. For these reasons I personally would advise that you put some money aside for any problems rather than paying into a plan. It is also likely to cost less.

If something needs fixing you should ask around for recommendations for the engineer and only pay when the fault has been fixed and you are happy with the service.
