    Demon Broadband

There does not appear to be a posting on Demon Broadband. Is it that good no one has a complaint?

Well i have just switched to them from Eclipse becuase Eclipse were screwing me over charges. I have had Demon for about a month and they still have'nt resolved a problem i have setting up Microsoft Office 2003 to receive my emails and despithe emailing them 3 times have still not replied to a problem with their Alacatel Modem.I am not amused by their lack of support and now have to wait until my contract has expired to change ISP. The only good thing is that it has given me time to find a decent ISP !

    Hi Lynxeffect

Demon are not the worst broadband provider by some margin but they're not one of the best either. I would say the service you get from them is probably adequate and could be worse if you were a customer of some other providers.

    Re: Demon Broadband

When i signed up for Demon they sent me a damn modem which i have to 'dial up' with to get online. Apart from being the ancient way of getting online and annoying I contacted then to see if i could set up a Netgear Wireless router to their service. Their Technical Guys could not help so they passed me onto Netgear themselves. After about 25/30 minutes on the phone to them and their (Netgear) assurances that they could set me up......nothing !!!! So i am now stuck with an ancient dial up modem for my broadband connection.

I dont suppose there are any proper PC Technical boffins out their who can help? If so please reply or email on XXXXXX Moderator edit --- Please read the rules, email addresses in profiles only please.

    Re: Demon Broadband

I was having a word with one of my engineers in London yesterday and Demon's name cropped up then. As said by Jason earlier, they are not the worst by quite a long chalk, but I'm afraid their support is right up there with Pipex and the others - completely pants.

If you detail the faults you are having, we may be able to help, but this is not a forum for free technical support!

    Re: Demon Broadband

These are the settings of my ADSL router which is connected to Demon.  Information obtained from Demon when they still had a good help desk.

    Login information
        Authentication         chap
        Connection on demand    enabled

    PVC
          VPI     0
          VCI     38

    Connection Type
          Connection Type     Router with PPPoA
          Encapsulation Method     LLC

This is generic and should work for your Netgear router.

    Re: Demon Broadband

Thanks for your replies guys. I did not mean it as a free technical support question and im sorry if you guys took it that way

I have long given up on Demon Tech Support as they were as you say 'pants' to put it quite midly.

I am going to suffer with the cheap Alacatel 'dial up' Modem for the time being until i can get out of my Demon contract or i contact a mate of mine who is a proper computer engineer.

    Thanks again for your replies.
